Told my Swedish relatives about it. That's my Grandfathers Fuel truck in front on their home in Ballard. A lot of memories. Know a lot of the names and places. Very good!
I thought it would be a history of the Swedes and Swedish influence in Seattle. However it was just a book of pictures of Swedish people from Seattle in the early 20 Century. Sure there were detailed captions, but I really wanted more than a picture book.
Although I have no connection to Seattle or the Swedish community, I've visited that city several times over the years and I've enjoyed visiting the Ballard neighborhood. This book has a terrific collection of photos and the written information is interesting.
I'm biased. My family is in the book. It was a surprise to see my Great grandma Agda, my Grandma Esther, and Great Aunt Thelma. They were strong women who lived by helping others in the Salvation Army.To know of Swedish Seattle is to know a major part of current Seattle culture. I love this city.
