Lara really outdid herself with this terrific book! It's not a rehash of previous books, as some designer/authors have been known to do & leaving their readers & fans feeling cheated. It's chock-full of fresh, new ideas that shine with ingenuity and chic style but are still largely accessible by her readers. None of the results look tacky or homemade, but rather turn out looking high-end & stylish! In fact, I would have easily given it 5 stars if it weren't for 3 relatively minor issues: There are numerous typos throughout the book that should have never missed the eyes of anyone who dares to call herself an editor/proofreader! There are other obvious mistakes in simple punctuation, basic sentence structure, and redundant sentence content. Secondly, the kindle/e-book version is nothing short of bizarre! It's very disconcerting to try to read in its current format & it's very disjointed, with charts mystifyingly lopped off & continued on the next page. It's clear from the text & photo references that some pages are out of order. There's no excuse for this sad state with today's technology. Someone just did a crappy job here! Lara will be horribly embarrassed when she sees it in its current dismal state. Third, and much more importantly, it is lacking a much-needed resource list of the specific pattern names & colors for the fabrics and wallpapers used as well as specific paint colors & manufacturers. A few of these happen to be identified in the text, but the vast majority are not. While many of the thrift stores & flea markets are identified at the end of the book, these are useful only to those readers who happen to live in the NY & Conn area. Strongly suggest they add it when they revamp the e-book version to fix the formatting flaws & to correct the typos, etc. Thank you, Lara, for this exciting book! We are so happy you found the time to write it & to do the make-overs it contains!!

I would love my house to look chic and fun but I have no idea where to start or how to do it. Also I don't have a ton of money to spend. That is why I absolutely love this book! Flea Market Fab gives you great ideas and Lara shows you how to put together your dream room, step by step. She also stresses how to work with what you already have instead of having to buy new. You don't have to be a GMA fan to like this book. The pics and layout are gorgeous. Lara's tips are very easy to understand. I have a plan now to redo my bedroom and I can't wait to get started. Finding a flea this weekend!

Well, it's a 'pretty' book, but I'm not sure how useful it is. Saying things like, 'oh we bought these two chairs, painted them and reapolstered them and put them in the corner - don't they look pretty?' - doesn't help me much. I can design inspiration ideas anywhere like magazines, library books, Pintrest. But what this book really needed to do was go into a lot of details about the 'how'. Inspiration can only get you so far. I'm returning this book. Not sure why everyone is raving about it.

So very inspiring. What looks like junk or very unappealing dated furniture may just look fabulous with a makeover. After reading this book I did a makeover of a 1980's wood frame couch and 2 chairs. The cushions were in an ugly brown plaid. Now the wood frame stained white and cushions on the couch in a breezy soft yellow and the chairs in a beachy navy and white stripe and pillow to go as well. It's really beautiful.

This book was the absolute worst digital product. If there was any way to get my purchase price back, I would in a heartbeat- the images did not display well, and there was little useful text. I am an addict of this show, and felt that I had to have this book! Next time, I am really going to rethink my decisions a bit more thoroughly before I hit the "confirm" button. Save your money, buy a real book. Or download the multitude of free books on decorating!

Got my "Flea market fabulous" book today and I just LOVE it !!! Beautiful book inside and out. It is packed FULL of so many pictures and ideas. I have been a big "Trash to Treasures" girl for a long time and I thought I had great ideas for repurposing things but even I got lots of new ideas from Lara' s rooms. Lara does a wonderful job trying to inspire people to look at things a different way. Your home should be your comfortable haven and a reflection of its owner. Don't be afraid to give your space some personality, Once I redid my first piece of old beat up furniture I was hooked. I hope this book inspires everyone that reads it to make some thing beautiful !!!! Recommend the book 100%

I work for Loyola Marymount University. We recently decided to make all lectures available via Podcasts. I went searching for books on the subject in order to find a solution for the school. This book was by far the best book on the subject. It even gave us some ideas for video blogging that we hadn't previously considered. Without the precise and coherent coverage given to Podcasting in this book I doubt we would have a solution even half as good. Thanks to the authors for their great book. It has been invaluable.

I considered buying this as its listed as being a 2013 publication but on closer reading it seems it was 1st published in 2006 and is being republished on Kindle in 2013 but it doesn't appear to have ben updated.............if so this is misleading given how much the subject has changed since then.

But then, once it's launched, there are SO many things to consider and so many ways to expand it. This is a great book for examples and a history of the Art Deco design. Although the movement started in Europe first, I would have appreciated more pictures about the American movement. The various European schools are discussed in detail with many artists listed and their works shown. The Paris art deco fair of 1925 which exposed many to the design is shown as well as the New York World's Fair of 1939. Very good and educational book about the background and influence Art Deco had on design. Included are art, posters, glass, sculpture, clothing, architecture and home furnishings. Just wish some of those great Hollywood movie interiors of the 20's and 30's were included.

What I was hoping to find here is a rather complete work-up on the remnants of that bygone age to be found in the buildings of Manhattan - that's NOT what this is! Rather, it focuses on graphic illustration and to some degree fashion. Most of the pictures aren't genuine period pieces, but instead current illustrations of the Art Deco age. It IS coffee-table size, and nicely priced, but still, it really was NOT my cup of tea. A much better find I do enjoy would be book "New York Deco", also obtained from Amazon.

Mesmerizing, high-quality pictures and informative blurbs about artists, architecture, designers, media, and trends of the art deco era. I love getting lost in this book and feeling transported in time. The pages and hard cover are sturdy enough for the many guests that will inevitably thumb through it while "oohing" and "ahhing." A must for glam girls and art deco lovers.

Beautiful book! My daughter loved it. It's not only filled with great illustrations and art of the era, but also has enough information to also be educational. Great gift!

This was supposed to be the original 1818 version of the book, but it isn’t. It’s a bizarre copy - there are no publishing notes at all. It’s missing the Preface. I compared the first few chapters to an online version of the 1818 book and I noticed differences in Letter 3 where a whole paragraph was added. I would need to check the 1831 version to see if that is what this book is. I should return it but it was $4 and not worth the effort.

This book was one of the biggest surprises for me! Absolutely NOTHING what I expected. When someone says word "Frankenstein", you think about a lab, a mad proffesor, some lightning buzzing into the bolts inside monster's head. Drop all this imagination! This classical book had nothing of it! :O Maybe that's why I was so amazed. If I didn't have all those expectations, maybe my rating would be lower, but now, damn, I liked it a lot! Since I have so much to say, I'll just drop it into a list, of good and bad things :)1) It's awesome that Amazon is giving free ebooks for classical literature like this! Thanks, Amazon! And what a surprise it was for me, that this Kindle edition is the real original "Frankenstein", but audiobook narrated by George Guidhall is of a later edition (which was edited by the author herself, when her book became famous). So reading those two books where more like reading two separate books for me - one ebook and one audiobook, with quite a lot of changes, even so major as who Elizabeth was to Victor - a real cousin, or just a girl taken from street! :O2) As I said, I have expected this book to be absolutely different! A horror story, about making a man from different body parts. Actually this only took a few pages of the book. All the book was Victor's thoughts about what he had done, creatures thoughts about humankind, and 3) a lot a lot A LOT of words misery, wretchedness and countenance :D My oh my, I have never read so many same QQing thoughts in my life! :D This book could be a good 5 star if Victor's thoughts weren't so TERRIBLY repetitive. He said he feels misery/is miserable/life's misery at least 135 times (just did a search in my Kindle). I won't even count other of his cryings. I should be ashamed of making fun of his inner tortures. Victor Frankenstein had a really difficult life, but I'm not if it was a good idea by the author to write it in such a repetitive way! but on the other hand - it was an absolutely different style from the books I usually read, so also a good thing.4) Never ever don't you dear call a man-made-man a "Frankenstein"! He didn't have a name! Frankenstein was his creator. But the creature was just that - a creature. And what a surprise he was! All my life I thought of Frankenstein's creature to be a mindless monster, with bolts in his head, making ugly sounds and walking like a zombie. That's what those movies show! But this was such a mistake of mine! :O Creature was one of the most intelligent characters in the story! His ability to deduct, to learn, to feel... he was amazing! The story creature told about his first year of life was so heartgripping that I felt so fond of him, so sorry for him... Sadly later he changed.. Loniness makes people (and other creatures) do bad things... :( But still.. he was not a mindless zombie. He was extremely sensitive being.. With emotions on extremities - both good and bad. But wouldn't we be like that, if we didn't have parents and comfort of other people to learn from?I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to read some intricate English language, but who has enough patience to suffer though all characters' repetitive sufferings (pun intended).This book is emotional, but not in a romantic way. It makes You think about creators responsibility against the creation. And most of all, it shows how Your decisions can change Your whole life!

If you're reading this review, you only have one question. You're not looking for a book review, you already know it's a classic. You already know this is the most original, and one of the best, and best-written horror stories in literature. You may or may not like the story, but that's a matter of personal taste. A lot of people don't like Shakespeare, but no one questions whether he was a good writer or not. If you don't like the writing style, it's because you aren't familiar with the English of this period. Nearly eighty years before Stoker's "Dracula" ( an idea stolen from Polidori's "The Vampyre", which was an idea stolen from LeFanu's "Carmilla"), this most-original horror masterpiece was born. So, your only question is, "Is this really the uncensored 1818 version? Because I've only seen one other verified version, and it's over twenty dollars in paperback. All the others claiming to be the 1818 version have been disproved." YES, as far as I can tell, it is. The only preface is Shelley's own original. There is no introduction, no commentary or editorial credits whatsoever. There are no illustrations, and the spelling and language have not been edited. Have a good thesaurus handy. So, here it is, the author's original script, no frills, for a bargain price. Which is exactly what I was looking for.

Do not buy this (October 22, 2017) Kindle edition of Frankenstein. The book is riddled with typographic errors and the wording is off in many places. Some sentences don't flow or even make sense. It appears a bad OCR tool was used to translate the original Frankenstein novel to this bastardization. I had to put down the book since it was simply unreadable. As an alternative, I downloaded the open source version (legally free) from Gutenberg here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/84. I'm now reading and enjoying Frankenstein on its 200th anniversary.
