Lara really outdid herself with this terrific book! It's not a rehash of previous books, as some designer/authors have been known to do & leaving their readers & fans feeling cheated. It's chock-full of fresh, new ideas that shine with ingenuity and chic style but are still largely accessible by her readers. None of the results look tacky or homemade, but rather turn out looking high-end & stylish! In fact, I would have easily given it 5 stars if it weren't for 3 relatively minor issues: There are numerous typos throughout the book that should have never missed the eyes of anyone who dares to call herself an editor/proofreader! There are other obvious mistakes in simple punctuation, basic sentence structure, and redundant sentence content. Secondly, the kindle/e-book version is nothing short of bizarre! It's very disconcerting to try to read in its current format & it's very disjointed, with charts mystifyingly lopped off & continued on the next page. It's clear from the text & photo references that some pages are out of order. There's no excuse for this sad state with today's technology. Someone just did a crappy job here! Lara will be horribly embarrassed when she sees it in its current dismal state. Third, and much more importantly, it is lacking a much-needed resource list of the specific pattern names & colors for the fabrics and wallpapers used as well as specific paint colors & manufacturers. A few of these happen to be identified in the text, but the vast majority are not. While many of the thrift stores & flea markets are identified at the end of the book, these are useful only to those readers who happen to live in the NY & Conn area. Strongly suggest they add it when they revamp the e-book version to fix the formatting flaws & to correct the typos, etc. Thank you, Lara, for this exciting book! We are so happy you found the time to write it & to do the make-overs it contains!!

I would love my house to look chic and fun but I have no idea where to start or how to do it. Also I don't have a ton of money to spend. That is why I absolutely love this book! Flea Market Fab gives you great ideas and Lara shows you how to put together your dream room, step by step. She also stresses how to work with what you already have instead of having to buy new. You don't have to be a GMA fan to like this book. The pics and layout are gorgeous. Lara's tips are very easy to understand. I have a plan now to redo my bedroom and I can't wait to get started. Finding a flea this weekend!

Well, it's a 'pretty' book, but I'm not sure how useful it is. Saying things like, 'oh we bought these two chairs, painted them and reapolstered them and put them in the corner - don't they look pretty?' - doesn't help me much. I can design inspiration ideas anywhere like magazines, library books, Pintrest. But what this book really needed to do was go into a lot of details about the 'how'. Inspiration can only get you so far. I'm returning this book. Not sure why everyone is raving about it.

So very inspiring. What looks like junk or very unappealing dated furniture may just look fabulous with a makeover. After reading this book I did a makeover of a 1980's wood frame couch and 2 chairs. The cushions were in an ugly brown plaid. Now the wood frame stained white and cushions on the couch in a breezy soft yellow and the chairs in a beachy navy and white stripe and pillow to go as well. It's really beautiful.

This book was the absolute worst digital product. If there was any way to get my purchase price back, I would in a heartbeat- the images did not display well, and there was little useful text. I am an addict of this show, and felt that I had to have this book! Next time, I am really going to rethink my decisions a bit more thoroughly before I hit the "confirm" button. Save your money, buy a real book. Or download the multitude of free books on decorating!

Got my "Flea market fabulous" book today and I just LOVE it !!! Beautiful book inside and out. It is packed FULL of so many pictures and ideas. I have been a big "Trash to Treasures" girl for a long time and I thought I had great ideas for repurposing things but even I got lots of new ideas from Lara' s rooms. Lara does a wonderful job trying to inspire people to look at things a different way. Your home should be your comfortable haven and a reflection of its owner. Don't be afraid to give your space some personality, Once I redid my first piece of old beat up furniture I was hooked. I hope this book inspires everyone that reads it to make some thing beautiful !!!! Recommend the book 100%

Gorgeous in print version with its tapesty of terrific photographs, but I can't imagine this would be a good choice for any e-reader.

I work for Loyola Marymount University. We recently decided to make all lectures available via Podcasts. I went searching for books on the subject in order to find a solution for the school. This book was by far the best book on the subject. It even gave us some ideas for video blogging that we hadn't previously considered. Without the precise and coherent coverage given to Podcasting in this book I doubt we would have a solution even half as good. Thanks to the authors for their great book. It has been invaluable.

I considered buying this as its listed as being a 2013 publication but on closer reading it seems it was 1st published in 2006 and is being republished on Kindle in 2013 but it doesn't appear to have ben updated.............if so this is misleading given how much the subject has changed since then.

This hands-on guide is great for nailing down the nitty gritty of podcasting. Sure, there's nothing to it; you can make a podcast in a night. But then, once it's launched, there are SO many things to consider and so many ways to expand it. This is what makes casting a blast!His nitty gritty on bandwidth, pricing plans, and especially the case studies of existing vidcasts and podcasts helped me a lot with refining my New Civilization Podcast.Good stuff!Zack

This is a great book for examples and a history of the Art Deco design. Although the movement started in Europe first, I would have appreciated more pictures about the American movement. The various European schools are discussed in detail with many artists listed and their works shown. The Paris art deco fair of 1925 which exposed many to the design is shown as well as the New York World's Fair of 1939. Very good and educational book about the background and influence Art Deco had on design. Included are art, posters, glass, sculpture, clothing, architecture and home furnishings. Just wish some of those great Hollywood movie interiors of the 20's and 30's were included.

What I was hoping to find here is a rather complete work-up on the remnants of that bygone age to be found in the buildings of Manhattan - that's NOT what this is! Rather, it focuses on graphic illustration and to some degree fashion. Most of the pictures aren't genuine period pieces, but instead current illustrations of the Art Deco age. It IS coffee-table size, and nicely priced, but still, it really was NOT my cup of tea. A much better find I do enjoy would be book "New York Deco", also obtained from Amazon.

Mesmerizing, high-quality pictures and informative blurbs about artists, architecture, designers, media, and trends of the art deco era. I love getting lost in this book and feeling transported in time. The pages and hard cover are sturdy enough for the many guests that will inevitably thumb through it while "oohing" and "ahhing." A must for glam girls and art deco lovers.

Beautiful book! My daughter loved it. It's not only filled with great illustrations and art of the era, but also has enough information to also be educational. Great gift!

This was supposed to be the original 1818 version of the book, but it isnâ€™t. Itâ€™s a bizarre copy - there are no publishing notes at all. Itâ€™s missing the Preface. I compared the first few chapters to an online version of the 1818 book and I noticed differences in Letter 3 where a whole paragraph was added. I would need to check the 1831 version to see if that is what this book is. I should return it but it was $4 and not worth the effort.

This book was one of the biggest surprises for me! Absolutely NOTHING what I expected. When someone says word "Frankenstein", you think about a lab, a mad proffesor, some lightning buzzing into the bolts inside monster's head. Drop all this imagination! This classical book had nothing of it! :O Maybe that's why I was so amazed. If I didn't have all those expectations, maybe my rating would be lower, but now, damn, I liked it a lot! Since I have so much to say, I'll just drop it into a list, of good and bad things :)1) It's awesome that Amazon is giving free ebooks for classical literature like this! Thanks, Amazon! And what a surprise it was for me, that this Kindle edition is the real original "Frankenstein", but audiobookÂ narrated by George Guidhall is of a later edition (which was edited by the author herself, when her book became famous). So reading those two books where more like reading two separate books for me - one ebook and one audiobook, with quite a lot of changes, even so major as who Elizabeth was to Victor - a real cousin, or just a girl taken from street! :O2) As I said, I have expected this book to be absolutely different! A horror story, about making a man from different body parts. Actually this only took a few pages of the book. All the book was Victor's thoughts about what he had done, creatures thoughts about humankind, andÂ 3) a lot a lot A LOT of words misery, wretchedness and countenance :DÂ My oh my, I have never read so many same QQing thoughts in my life! :D This book could be a good 5 star if Victor's thoughts weren't so TERRIBLY repetitive. He said he feels misery/is miserable/life's misery at least 135 times (just did a search in my Kindle). I won't even count other of his cryings. I should be ashamed of making fun of his inner tortures. Victor Frankenstein had a really difficult life, but I'm not if it was a good idea by the author to write it in such a repetitive way! but on the other hand - it was an absolutely different style from the books I usually read, so also a good thing.4) Never ever don't you dear call a man-made-man a "Frankenstein"! He didn't have a name! Frankenstein was his creator. But the creature was just that - a creature. And what a surprise he was! All my life I thought of Frankenstein's creature to be a mindless monster, with bolts in his head, making ugly sounds and walking like a zombie. That's what those movies show! But this was such a mistake of mine! :O Creature was one of the most intelligent characters in the story! His ability to deduct, to learn, to feel... he was amazing! The story creature told about his first year of life was so heartgripping that I felt so fond of him, so sorry for him... Sadly later he changed.. Loniness makes people (and other creatures) do bad things... :( But still.. he was not a mindless zombie. He was extremely sensitive being.. With emotions on extremities - both good and bad. But wouldn't we be like that, if we didn't have parents and comfort of other people to learn from?I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to read some intricate English language, but who has enough patience to suffer though all characters' repetitive sufferings (pun intended).This book is emotional, but not in a romantic way. It makes You think about creators responsibility against the creation. And most of all, it shows how Your decisions can change Your whole life!

If you're reading this review, you only have one question. You're not looking for a book review, you already know it's a classic. You already know this is the most original, and one of the best, and best-written horror stories in literature. You may or may not like the story, but that's a matter of personal taste. A lot of people don't like Shakespeare, but no one questions whether he was a good writer or not. If you don't like the writing style, it's because you aren't familiar with the English of this period. Nearly eighty years before Stoker's "Dracula" ( an idea stolen from Polidori's "The Vampyre", which was an idea stolen from LeFanu's "Carmilla"), this most-original horror masterpiece was born. So, your only question is, "Is this really the uncensored 1818 version? Because I've only seen one other verified version, and it's over twenty dollars in paperback. All the others claiming to be the 1818 version have been disproved." YES, as far as I can tell, it is. The only preface is Shelley's own original. There is no introduction, no commentary or editorial credits whatsoever. There are no illustrations, and the spelling and language have not been edited. Have a good thesaurus handy. So, here it is, the author's original script, no frills, for a bargain price. Which is exactly what I was looking for.

Do not buy this (October 22, 2017) Kindle edition of Frankenstein. The book is riddled with typographic errors and the wording is off in many places. Some sentences don't flow or even make sense. It appears a bad OCR tool was used to translate the original Frankenstein novel to this bastardization. I had to put down the book since it was simply unreadable. As an alternative, I downloaded the open source version (legally free) from Gutenberg here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/84. I'm now reading and enjoying Frankenstein on its 200th anniversary.

Despite the relatively compact size of the book, the "thumbnail"-like presentation of the notebook pages still have plenty of detail. I pre-ordered this publication when it was first announced and despite the delayed release date, it was totally worth the wait. I plan on buying another copy as I'm certain this publication will be highly sought-after in the future.

For anyone learning about and attracted to the art of Hilma af Klint, this is the perfect companion to the recently published book for the exhibition at the Guggenheim. Hilma af Klint kept detailed sketchbooks with extensive notes. Each book is a valuable work of art. This magnificently published hard bound book is based on the most perfectly reproduced image captures of the pages from her sketchbooks (all in color). There is excellent scholastic research that places these volumes in historical context by explaining the "coded" writings of Hilma af Klint. I originally lost about 38 pounds in three months several years ago. With the South Beach Diet Book and this, the Good Carb, Good Fat guide, the diet was easy to follow once I committed to it. This guide alone is enough to put you on the road to fewer pounds on your frame (if you understand the diet.) This copy of the guide that I gave to a friend, actually categorizes all food contained in it into the Three Phases of the Diet (which the original edition that I have did not.) There are also many food 'brands' in this edition rather than just generic foods as well. Well worth the money for those who are familiar with the diet and how these choice become a life long commitment for a healthier you.

Great for taking food shopping-easy to see which foods to eat or avoid in all 3 parts of the SBD. The paper back version is nice to put in your pocket or handbag for referral while you shop. Am buying a second copy to keep in the car for unexpected travels to food stores~~~

I ended up buying 2 of these books so I must really like it LOLI will give extra to my sister & have her diet with me.This is a healthy diet recommended by my doctor.

I had done the Atkins diet and rebounded, gaining more than I had lost. My doctor and my dentist both recommended the South Beach Diet citing many of their patients who were sucessfully doing it.I asked my wife if she would go on it with me (easier with two pulling in the same direction!) and we've gotten through the first two weeks induction program (Phase 1) and into Phase 2.So far, so good. I dropped eleven pounds during the two week "boot camp" period and am down fifteen in week three.I really appreciate being able to eat fruits and a wider variety of vegetables. Especially grateful for whole grain breads. I believe that this is an eating program I won't get bored with and can stay until I lose my eighty pound goal.It's a little early to be writing a review but wanted to encourage those who might shy away from another "low carb" diet. I think it is a kinder and gentler program than pure Atkins. It certainly has much more variety and easier to stay on.

Tamara Bower has been creating art all her life, encouraged by her mother, an artist. The author's credentials are impeccable - trained at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (one of the foremost sponsors of digs in Egypt) worked with the Brooklyn Museum's Egyptian division... Her bibliography is excellent.Having gotten that out of the way, let me say that this is a charming story, told with humor in the fashion of an ancient (Egyptian) text. The Prince of Egypt has heard of the fighting women and has come to see what they are like. The Queen of the Amazons sends her young sister as a spy and then decides to fight the prince face to face.They fight, they realize that each is worthy of respect and admiration - and they fall in love. Delightful!The illustrations are wonderful, whether or not you are familiar with ancient Egyptian art. The notes on the text and the illustrations are interesting, and even a child would be interested to learn that the collection of symbols forms the prince's name, and that the archer running away with his bow over his head and one hand stretched out behind him is trying to surrender.All in all a delight to own!

Strong women, battling men, first at war, and eventually in love. Loosely based on real-life ancient history, this book is a feast for young imaginations with glimpses of past Assyria (the modern day Middle East), Egypt, and hieroglyphics. The book is educational as well as entertaining.A fairly short book that won't overwhelm younger children (artistically stimulating for the pre-reader), but also keeps us old folks visually engaged.

This story is an ancient tale with a modern sensibility. Two great leaders, a prince and a queen, who do not know much about each other at first, rise to battle each other, then learn to respect each other and join forces. It's a great story of adventure, empowerment and acceptance, beautifully told with Tamara Bower's rich, colorful, hieroglyphic style paintings. This is a great book for anyone who likes Egyptian art and classic storytelling.

I've picked up most of this series when they show up on the top 100 free list and this one, like the others, does not disappoint. The article on hooped row covers showed the upside and downside to their usage. I think when I construct mine I'll actually do things a little differently and make it a bit more user friendly; i.e., large enough to actually enter, like a greenhouse, so I don't have to constantly mess with the covers just to get to my vegetables. As usual, the articles are well written, thought provoking and helpful to those who might be looking to simplify their lifestyle. Highly recommended to one and all.

This was pretty neat! This is very clear and readable, and the pictures are lovely on the Kindle for PC app. (I don't think they'd show up as nicely on my e-ink Kindle, since they're color pictures, but they're not strictly necessary to appreciate the book.)I found the information helpful and I liked the idea of breaking things down into separate projects. I think a lot of people could benefit from trying the "poverty line" experiment.

Once again Anna shares her experiences and wisdom both good and bad lessons learned on country living. Her first-person view point as she works the land with her husband and they raise everything from kids to chickens is entertaining and educational. She doesn't sugar-coat her experiences.

I love it! Anna does a great job with these books. She gives excelent, practical, easy to follow adice and project ideas. Anna doesn't just tell you about the idea of a project or product, she builds and used the same thing for her to use and takes pictures and gives instructions for how you can do it too.Buy it it is worth every penny!

As a single woman living in the mountains of southern Ecuador I have found this booka marvelous addition to my useable collection of books. So much intelligent basicinformation with more in depth information for so many things. I order this book eachmonth as the new one comes out. I am hooked.... totally.

I have learned at least one new thing to do with homesteading in each of these chapters. I would recommend any of these books. I am just getting started with homesteading, and these made me see that a little can be done at a time to make a difference.

However, a male will probably think the same! That is so, because the book departs from universal human experiences and ways of relating that go way beyond gender and nationality.The book is extremely short, and it will last you about two coffees. Less if you are a fast reader. Being so, the book is perfect to re/read on the bus, on the toilet, on a trip, on a coffee break, lunch break. Anytime you do, it will be wonderful.I think that this being a classic old book, and a very short book indeed, the price should be more reasonable. Say about 3 bucks.

I have loved Portia Nelson's poem, "Autobiography in Five Acts" since I first read it in college. This book expands on that theory and provides additional insights for self-discovery. I highly recommend it for anyone wishing to change their thoughts and ultimately change their life.

Must read book for everyone who's ever stumbled in life!

My father knew this woman as a young adult, so I purchased the book. I had heard "There's a Hole in My Sidewalk" a number of seminars over the year and presenters never give Ms. Nelson as the author. I enjoyed the poetry and the perspective.

As someone else said, this is a VERY simple book, but that is good. It's not a book in the sense that it's filled with a bunch of words, sentences, chapters,etc. No, it is a series of different poems that relate to each of the 5 main chapters of what they book is about...which is confidence/self-esteem. I read most of the poems as they applied to me, I could relate to almost all of them. When you read them, you think, that's pretty lame, that's so silly, then...you're like...man....that's ME!! I do that!!! It's not a book or poems that's going to fix you, or tell you what to do to fix yourself, but for me, it was an eye opener on what I am doing, and what i need to stop doing, stop worrying about. Anyway, I got a lot from it, I hope you do too.

I learned this "story" years ago and find great parable value in it. I was interested in the entire writing and found that I will remain connected with the Hole in my Sidewalk story; the rest of the work didn't call to me.
