This book is sort of a scam. If your interested in pathophysiology then yes, I am a college student and found this book useless. I have talked to many many people and they have all found this book useless. There are test banks that will help you and there are workbooks that will help you. The text is not something that will probably help you. They will just keep changing the editions to continually screw the college student for many years to come.

I use this for school, it does not have page numbers so I can reference it. When I scroll pages it jumps ahead 5+ pages making it impossible to read. I am so disappointed and cannot believe someone would even sell this. I don't think I have any options. Can I get any help with this order?

The great thing about this book is that it is full of information and may make me a good reference for a few years.The bad thing about this book is that it is full of information, and if you are using it for an independent study or online course, the chapters in no way help you understand the material or prioritize what is most important for clinical work or for learning the material for any other reason other than rote memorization practice. They read like a summary of journal articles.

I had to get this book for nursing school. I found a PDF of the book for free but then I got frustrated because the page numbers were way off. Then I decided to buy the kindle version because I thought maybe it would help me in the future anyways - and what do you know, page numbers were way off just like the PDF. Thankfully I was still able to return the kindle version. My last result was to just rent it for $24, I was not willing to spend a lot of money on a book that caused me so much frustration. It was a good decision. It got me through my class, stress-free. It's kind of hard to understand sometimes, but otherwise it was fine. Good pictures. There's better patho books out there to buy and learn from for your own knowledge; I wouldn't bother buying this one. Hope this helps.

My professor raves about the book and advises taking it to work, but the text wasn’t that impressive to me (working on my BSN after LPN, RN degrees- I’ve been around and read better books ) explanations tend to run on and at times are overly complex for the average reader.

Wish I could give it 0 stars. The editors need to be fired. It's obvious no person in charge of writing/editing this book has any English skills. The grammar is terrible. The word order is wrong and confusing. The material in this is difficult enough as it is. No one needs confusing sentence structures and run on sentences making it impossible to follow. Major fail.

This book is poorly written. I am using it for my masters program and it failed to go into as much detail as even my undergrad pathophysiology book did. Disappointed with this book.

What a shame that this very good textbook is being sold only in soft cover. It would be an excellent reference book to keep but for the cover, which is inadequate for the size of the book and thus makes it awkward to read or keep on a bookshelf and also makes it very much liable to becoming damaged. For this reason alone, this book is not a keeper. I will be returning it and renting instead.

It's unfortunate that Ms. Nettel only has two novels in English. This is a very gifted writer. Her characters feel so lived-in, it's clear she's drawn a great deal from real life, as she did in her debut novel. Oftentimes, a writer doesn't make the leap from short stories to novels, but Nettel is actually better in novels where she can languish in her characters and explore their nuanced trajectories. There's nothing sentimental here, but the longing in her characters that she gets to is so achingly real, you become deeply, emotionally invested them. This writer deserves a way bigger audience in America. I'm reading a lot these days, and some of the best literature is coming from Latin writers. And the U.K. with the sensational Sally Rooney. Just a great book, one that will pull you in and leave you filled in that way that there's no real meaning of satiety anymore. I just wish she would quit teaching and write more. She has so much to say about the Latin ex-pat experience, about love, about heartbreak, people who are searching for meaning in a bleak and lonely world that is existentially alienating. This is a writer who feels deeply and has the talent and the craft to educe those feelings and draw them to the surface.

Narrated in the first person by two main characters: Claudio and Cecilia, this novel broke me and rebuilt me at the same time. Nettel is becoming one of the most important voices of latin american writing, follow her closely, do yourself that favor!

I purchased this workbook for a CNA Program that I recently completed. The book arrived in new condition, and it was very helpful in successfully completing the course. My only recommendation would be that they should add an answer sheet in the back of the book, so that I can check my answers for accuracy.

This was a great book to use with the online workbook chapter test. I was able to take the test following each chapter some of the pages was a little of but okay. Some of the things in the book wasn't really on the test. But it still gave you points on some of the written and definitely most of the clinical part. I took my test and passed.

You would think a workbook would have an answer key - but this one does not. It’s a waste of money bc you don’t know if you are actually doing it correct.

Used it for school. There is a newer version of this out but it’s not that much different than this one.

My son wanted this for his highschool class.

I ordered this book for a friend, because I have prime 2 day shipping. I assume it was very helpful in studying for her certification, since she passed the test.

Ordered for my sister!!!! Helped a lot :)

I loved following Attia’s journey as she headed towards revenge against the Roman Republic – quickly becoming an empire – for destroying her clan and leaving her princess of a nation swallowed by the growing Roman nation. This book loosely follows the story of Spartacus and focuses on the gladiators and fighters who are willing to challenge an empire that took them from their homeland. Following a historical bent like And I Darken by Kiersten White and female warriors that are ready to fight for justice like The Valiant by Lesley Livington, Blood and Sand blends fact and fiction to create an immersive, fast-paced adventure that will leave readers’ hearts pounding and blood rushing.Told from a third person POV, Blood and Sand begins with Attia, the princess of Maedi, seeing her home destroyed and being sold to slavery. To say she hates it is an understatement. The moment she is sold to Timeus, a Roman politician vying his way towards the top, she is ready to plan her revenge and assassination of the people who brought destruction towards her land. For now though, she needs to recuperate and heal while serving Timeus’s family… and the gladiator she was bought for.“She’d been a warrior once, and free. Now she was the only one left, the last Thracian the world would never know. She wondered if history would remember the genocide of the Maedi, the annihilation of her people.Doubtful, she thought. History only serves the winner.Roma victrix.”This gladiator is Xanthus, and he is not what I expected. Although he’s the champion gladiator of the time, he feels sorrow for every death that he causes. Xanthus is actually really sensitive and a kind soul at heart, despite his notoriety as a skilled gladiator. He initially rejects Timeus’s “gift” of Attia because forcing people to do things is the opposite of his nature. This just goes to show that it’s possible to write battle-hardened and skilled characters that aren’t just bulky Alphas – they can have more to their personalities than assertive and borderline-abusive natures. As Xanthus and Attia discover each other’s strengths and hatred against the Roman Republic, they form a close bond against the people who think they own them. I really enjoyed their developing romance because of its foundation on balance and respect. Both warriors care about the other’s feelings and have a healthy communication with one another. You can tell I really like Xanthus’s character because I spent a whole paragraph on this man – he’s just so refreshing!“Because maybe in this house, in this prison, they both wanted the same impossible thing: to be just a man and just a woman, standing free in the rain.”The plot is always at a fast pace, nonstop with its action and fighting and plotting. The politicians of Rome are very conniving as they put on false smiles and plot against one another. The characters themselves are thoroughly explored, and I enjoyed seeing all their facets: from the miserly ways of Timeus to his son Lucius that is at crossroads, and even the lovely banter between the gladiators – Xanthus’s blood brothers. And speaking of the gladiators, they’re amazing and I love every one of them. We get brief glimpses of their personalities and that’s more than enough to feel their kinship and loyalty. There’s just something about Wyk’s writing and me that just clicked. Everything flowed so nicely, and I ended up reading the story in one go – staying up until 2 am to finish.Attia herself is very well-written and an awesome character to follow! She’s very fierce and has a resilient nature that doesn’t falter, even when other characters encourage her to forget about her past. Her direct personality made her funny in subtle ways, and this bled to the straightforward dialogue that she wasn’t afraid to express. She has both the strength and smarts to survive… although she’s not invincible. Wyk writes Attia with flaws and her battle training doesn’t always save her, which I always appreciate in a character. Overall, I really enjoyed seeing her journey as she plans towards the downfall of the Roman Republic and can’t wait to see where she ends up in the sequel.“‘I see their faces, Attia. I see them in the shadows. I see them when I close my eyes.’Attia rested her forehead against his. ‘Then keep your eyes on me, champion. And we’ll face the shadows together.’”Speaking of sequel, I’m ready for it now! While Blood and Sand doesn’t have an extreme cliffhanger, it still leaves readers thirsty for more. Full of grit and tenacity, this book is an action-packed historical fantasy that will draw readers in from page one. The characters are all multifaceted and easy-to-like despite their flaws, and the constantly-moving plot make for quick page-turning. I really recommend it for readers looking for a fast plot and action that will leave them with an adrenaline rush – I’m getting one from just writing this review! This book was amazing and absolutely just what I needed. I've read a lot of historical fiction where women are seen as property and view themselves as lesser. This book was about slaves, but at no point did I actually feel that Attia was anyone's property but her own.Blood and Sand had all of the elements of a great story. There was action, lots and lots of action, as well as mystery. No one knew who Attia really was and that was precisely how she wanted. She didn't want anyone or anything to interfere with her desire for revenge. There was a sense of family and even romance. It just covered all of the bases for me.As a slave, Attia is 'given' to Rome's Champion, Xanthus, as a reward for his hard work. Xanthus happens to be a very upstanding guy and feels sorry for this girl who has no control over what happens to her life or her body. As a slave himself, Xanthus knows what it's like to long to be in control of even some small part of one's life. He gives Attia a measure of freedom and even encourages her training. He earns her trust and the begin to lean on each other.This is a super fast-paced book that pulls you through a circuit of emotions. It is a thrill-ride of heart-pounding scenes and heart stealing tableaus. I was completely in love with it from the very beginning to the very last page.

I really enjoyed this eARC! It was a little slow sometimes, but that happens with world building. I received a copy from Netgalley to review, and ended up giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars.I’ll admit I haven’t read many historical focused books when compared to other genres, but one based on the gladiator days of Rome sounded amazing. So when I saw this was one of the Sunday Street Team books, I had to sign up. And I was so right to do so, because this book was fantastic. I recommend it to historical fiction, and fantasy lovers.I loved Attia, Xanthus, and several of the other slaves/gladiators. I won’t go into much detail, because I don’t want to spoil anything. If you’re looking for a lot of romance, this book isn’t for you. Now I LOVE romance, but if the story is good enough, I don’t mind books with just a hint of romance. Forewarning…the ending made me cry a bit, and also made me want to beg for the next book so I could see what happens next. I need to know. The fact that I have to wait until next year to find out is TORTURE!!!!But seriously, read this book ASAP! You won’t regret it. It was really interesting, had a little romance, lots of fighting, some great historical settings, and fantastic characters you wanted to root for.

So this book was addicting. It was a short but fast paced read that kept me turning the page. Attia was an awesome MC who could rival any man. She is a genderbent Spartacus and I must say, as the legendary gladiator, she was disappointing. I wanted to see more of Spartacus but I didn’t get that. Xanthus was the other POV and he was great. A gladiator who hated killing. He wasn’t anything I haven’t read before, but Wyk wrote him in a way that made me fall for him.Now, let’s talk about the romance. I didn’t buy it. 150 pages in, they were falling in love. I wanted more angst but that’s not what I got. I would say it was a bit instalovey which was annoying since the rest of it was so good. I don’t hate them together, but I didn’t want the ship to be that easy.THE ENDING HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL. The ending will crush your soul. That’s all I will say about it.I totally recommend this book! It has faults but it is definitely worth picking up!

I love this book! I'll be buying more to give to friends and relatives. What a wonderful spin to a famous story in history. The author's ability to take you to a place, where you become the characters, is amazing! I highly recommend this book. It is well suited for young adults, and grown ups too! Lovely book. If you're interested in cocktail history and party ideas there is plenty here to read. If you're not interested, skip to the recipes. They are easy to read (because ingredients are on the left and if you know how to make a drink, you don't need the instructions) and varied enough to make the price of the book worth it. What I like best is that several recipes have the cocktail and the "mix" separate. This affords one the ability to make one drink at a time or a whole batch with the same recipe.

It is as enjoyable reading this book as it is making and drinking a great bloody. Cleverly written with unique and flavorful recipes for making a great hand-crafted cocktail/meal in a glass. This book is a fun party book or gift. I've purchased two additional as birthday gifts.

Love this book! It's helped me find so many new variations of bloodies. The book is beautifully photographed and well-written. :)

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!

I really liked the concept of this book. Thoroughout the story of this book, you can teach your kids how to be empathy. The illustration is well and beautifully organised. I appreciate it.

In our school this year hasn't started yet. But I have read the first chapter or so out loud to my girls as a story time book and he seemed to like it. I bought this book to use for homeschool. I like it, but I wish it had colorful pictures and maps. My girls enjoy the stories enough that I'll keep using it.

I was very satisfied when i perched this book. This is really an excellent book. This wonderful warm story that teaches kids to use kindness and compassion when confronted with bullying. This rhyming book is fun to read and important for kids to hear. I really liked this book and would recommend anyone who needs such type of information.
