This is a wonderful book! About a year ago I bought Dr. Verschuuren's other book on Excel Simulations which created all of the simulations with formulas and lacked any VBA code. While useful for some, for me that fell a bit short. But his new book, 100 Excel VBA Simulations, perfectly hits the mark. Each of the 100 examples is presented in a concise and strait forward way on two pages of the book. One one page he explains the simulation, provides illustrations of how it works, and offers a very insightful "what you need to know" section where he explains the theory and nuances of each. On the adjoining page he presents the VBA code used to create each simulation. DO NOT be afraid to buy this book if you are new to VBA. The typically 20-30 lines of code is organized, logical, and extremely easy to follow. The code is rich with examples of how to manipulate data, tables, arrays, dialog boxes and graphs. This alone makes it worth the price. Topics cover everything from Business to Finance to Genetics to Gambling to Monte Carlo simulations.All of the examples in the book can be downloaded from his companion website. While the examples are presented in a brief but comprehensive way, most of them are sufficiently complex to challenge your creativity and create a starting point to build rich, useful simulations of your own.

This is a thin book that dedicates on average two pages to each "simulation". Each simulation has a picture of the spreadsheet, the output and the code. Each simulation also has a brief description of what the simulation does and "what you need to know." (And some of the "what you need to know" is about two sentences long kind of brief.) All of the author's files and code may be downloaded from his website listed in the front of the book.As others have described, the code is not terribly lengthy nor complex so it is easy to understand. The book is written well enough for a casual user to understand the beginnings of what Excel VBA can do simulation-wise. However, a concept like bootstrapping (Chapter 25) is explained insanely briefly (six sentences over two paragraphs). The code consistently uses ambiguous variables (i, j, r, etc) with minimal commenting.Modelers, intermediate and advanced users will be disappointed. There may be a couple of nuggets in the "Gambling" and "Business" sections.This book mirrors my major gripe with so many of the other relatively inexpensive (less than $50) VBA resources available on Amazon: it feels like you'd have possibly gotten more value from finding a good blog or website and researching specific topics instead of buying a book sight unseen (since there are no previews of any any of the simulation pages). This is definitely one of the cases where a brick and mortar store can be (and in my case actually was) more helpful.

Having a good guide like Excel 2016 power programming or Excel 2016 VBA and Macros in combination with this book will help you trully master the Basic's on Variable's, formula's, looping, ranges. It demonstrates with fun mostly short scripts (Yes the simulations are also fun, interesting etc.) how things work.The books referred to above all contain examples and those do help, but having something this practical in addition is just what you need to really get to the bottom of the material. This book basically contains the homework assignments missing in teaching books.As a bonus it gives some great examples of using vb formulas. A good methaphor for what I mean is: "you have mastered vlookup in excel and all of a sudden discover indexmatch or sumproduct".

When I go to a teaching seminar my goal is try to latch onto at least one takeaway from each session I hit up. Sometimes you hit that goal, and sometimes you don't. Professional Development books are often the same way. Sometimes you get something out of it, and sometimes you don't. There are a great many books which clearly get across either the passion of teaching or the problems with education, but fewer still that give teachers practical strategies to affect change and inspire students. This book does just that. It hands you practical tools you can immediately implement while also re-energizing your passion battery. The chapters are easily consumable, yet highly practicable.I would recommend this book for any teacher, student, parent, or administrator! Matt doesn't promote technology at the expense of all else, but rather takes an approach that falls in line with best practice pedagogy. Technology is a tool that can and should be effectively harnessed and utilized in the practice of education. But the tool is only as effective as the user. Matt's approach to education is effective, practical, and timely. I honestly couldn't recommend a book - educational or otherwise - any higher than I do this one!

If you are ready to rethink the way you teach, then you need this book! If you don't think you need to rethink the way you teach, then you still need this book! I have tried going paperless and bringing technology in my classroom before and failed miserably. Matt Miller gives amazing resources and advice that makes it possible to do. The school year is coming to a close and after reading this book I am sad (not too terribly sad 😉) that summer is here. I feel like I have cheated my 3rd graders out of the way I plan to teach. I have already adapted some of the things in my classroom! This is a MUST have for all teachers and admin. Plus the book is super easy to read. Thanks again for the amazing book!! This book will be in my "ReRead" shelf every school year!

I got this book because I am not a tech savvy teacher. I found there were a lot of practical warnings of things to avoid. He seemed tounderstand that for teachers it can be the tiny details that louse up a new way of doing things. It was like he kept a list of mistakes hemade along the way so he could help others avoid them. But in the end, being a tech dinosaur, I wasn't able to implement a lot ofhis ideas. Don't let that stop you. It will save you weeks of time over the years. You can also watch his videos on You Tube.

Great book stuffed with tips to dive into the digital age with your students. I read the book as a business coach and trainer and I got inspired too for my work with trainees and coachees. A similar book for people like me would be great. In that way the tools would even be more focused on our work. In a nutshell: this book was a doorway to plenty of new sources. This study guide was decent, but some of the answers are incorrect. It only included half of the solutions, which were not very well analyzed. I was helpful when I was taking the class, but it could be better.

There was very little writing in it, so I was very pleased with the result. It helped a lot with understanding the materials since it offered a step by step explanation and descripiton most of the time. Definitely a good guide to use for assistance in problems, especially because of the explaining in the manual.The shipping was also done in a timely manner, so it was great for me since I didn't know there was a solutions manual and no answers to the problems in the back of the actual book and it was in the middle of the semester I realized I really needed it.

This was a great solutions manual to accompany my Organic Chemistry book. Unlike other books, the textbook did not have the odd answers in the back, so the solutions manual was necessary. There were also helpful study guides with consolidated information from the chapter.

I loved it

This is a great manual. It irks me that they charge you another $100+ just to get the answers to questions you've already paid for. However, this guide does a good job of explaining answers, which is a HUGE help, and something many other guides gloss over.

It is the study guide and solutions manual to the organic chemistry book we are using. It is easy to use with very few mistakes. It was an excellent purchase.

Johnny and his dad had an amazing cheat system in place during card games that had me smiling just imagining how he through the signals.Great book!

This book was not what I expected. I thought I was buying a book based on one of Gotti's hit man and his life in "the life". However this book tells the story of John Alite's childhood. I think the author should have condensed the three books. It's an interesting story to a point, but it wasn't gripping.

It showcases a time and era in the streets of New York long forgotten and swept away by history.John Alite’s tale may only be one of many but is written in such a gripping way to the reader they can’t help but be at the edge of their seat.SC Pike tells a tale of a child born to the streets which raised John to become a killer for a notorious mafia family and how he now takes his knowledge and applies it to help children escape the kind of life and better themselves.This is an intriguing story of survival and redemption.

This is the worst and I mean worst book I've ever read. I have read every Mafia book that has been written. This was the most boring one of all. The whole book was about his childhood not one thing about his interaction with the Mafia. I'd love to get my money back. Horrible read.I wouldn't give it any stars but you have to give it a least one.
